AHMEDABAD:
In a major crackdown on inter-state narcotics trafficking, the Naroda Police Station team intercepted a massive consignment of Mephedrone (MD) worth ₹6.25 crore in international market value. Acted on specific intelligence, police seized 1,850 grams (1.85 kg) of the contraband and arrested a 24-year-old suspect from Karnataka.
Trap Laid Near Nana Chiloda
Following directives from senior city police officials to curb illegal drug trade, Senior PI B.M. Katariya and Second PI S.A. Kotdiya directed local teams to track suspicious movements. PSI K.S. Kumpavat and the NDPS Squad received a specific tip-off that a young man carrying a black bag filled with narcotics was walking from Nana Chiloda Circle toward Nana Chiloda Crossroads.
A police team laid a targeted trap near Chamunda Tyre Shop on the public road and intercepted the individual matching the description.
Key Seizures & Arrest
The suspect was identified as Nikhilesh Ramesh Krishnappa (24), a resident of Wilson Garden, Bangalore South, Karnataka. A search of his belongings led to the recovery of:
- 1,850 grams of Mephedrone (MD) valued at ₹55.50 lakh locally and ₹6.25 crore internationally.
- One Vivo X33 Android mobile phone valued at ₹5,000.
- Two black plastic-taped bags used to conceal the drugs.
Nigerian Drug Ring Uncovered
Interrogation revealed that the contraband was supplied by two Nigerian nationals based in Chandigarh. The suspect was instructed to deliver the batch to another Nigerian national named “Frank”.
Naroda Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act—specifically Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29—and are conducting further investigations to dismantle the larger supply network.
