In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trafficking, the Viramgam Rural Police successfully intercepted a major shipment of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) earlier today. Acting on specific intelligence, the police team set up surveillance near the Hansalpur crossroads and intercepted a suspicious Tata trailer (MH-43-BX-8766) traveling from Ahmedabad towards Gandhidham.
Upon conducting a thorough inspection of the vehicle, officers discovered a massive haul of 38,256 small bottles (180 ml each) of IMFL, totaling 6,886 liters. The market value of the seized liquor is estimated at ₹47.82 lakh.
In addition to the illicit cargo, the police confiscated the trailer valued at ₹10 lakh, two mobile phones, and cash, bringing the total value of the seizure to **₹58 lakh**.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as **Mustak, son of Madirhim Jamal Pathan**, a resident of Siyai village in Barmer, Rajasthan, was arrested at the scene. Police Inspector V.M. Zala and his team are currently interrogating the suspect to identify other individuals involved in this smuggling network. Further investigations are underway to track down the masterminds behind this operation.
