A heartbreaking tragedy struck the Bhagawada area near Kotda Jadodar village in Nakhatrana taluka on Saturday afternoon. Four members of a single family—including two brothers and their two young toddlers—lost their lives on the spot following a massive explosion while unloading scrap material from a commercial vehicle at their yard.
Impact Kills Two Brothers and Their Children
The victims, who worked as small-scale scrap dealers, had returned home after collecting scrap during the morning. While they were unloading the cargo from their semi-truck/mini-tempo, a sudden blast ripped through the vehicle. The explosion was powerful enough to be heard across the nearby vicinity, leaving no chance for survival for those standing close by.
The victims have been identified as:
- Mamad Ilyas Kumbhar (30)
- Noormamad Ilyas Kumbhar (26) (brother of Mamad Ilyas)
- Hasnain Mamad Kumbhar (3.5 years) (son of Mamad Ilyas)
- Noor Fatima Kumbhar (3 years) (daughter of Noormamad)
Police Launch Investigation; FSL Team Deployed
Hearing the deafening sound, local villagers rushed to the site and alerted the authorities. A team from Nakhatrana Police Station, led by Inspector A. M. Patel, arrived shortly after to secure the perimeter. The police retrieved the bodies and sent them to a government hospital for post-mortem examinations while filing an Accidental Death (AD) report.
Unclear Cause of Blast
Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle’s diesel fuel tank may have exploded. However, officials are also investigating whether the scrap material collected earlier in the day contained volatile chemicals, pressurized containers, or explosive substances. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts have collected chemical and wreckage samples from the scene. Police stated that the exact technical trigger will be confirmed once the official forensic report is released.
The sudden demise of four young family members has cast a severe gloom over the entire village community.
