Major Negligence! AMC Officers in Trouble After Deadly Fire at Illegal AC Store

Ahmedabad: Three Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officers are facing disciplinary action following a devastating fire at an illegally operating AC godown in a residential property in Vejalpur, which resulted in the deaths of two people. The AMC has initiated disciplinary proceedings against these officials in the wake of the tragedy.
According to sources, the AC godown was running unlawfully in a house located in Vejalpur. Despite prior complaints lodged with the AMC by local residents regarding the illegal operation, the concerned AMC officials allegedly failed to take any action. This inaction is believed to have directly contributed to the fire incident, tragically claiming two innocent lives.
The incident has sparked significant outrage among the local community, with demands for immediate action against the responsible officials gaining momentum. Residents express their belief that the tragedy could have been averted had the AMC officials addressed the complaints in a timely manner.
Taking cognizance of the gravity of the situation, the AMC has promptly issued show-cause notices to the three implicated officers. These notices require the officials to provide an explanation within seven days. The AMC has made it clear that failure to provide a satisfactory response will result in strict disciplinary action under the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations (GPMC) Act regulations.
